Cholera has not been endemic in Europe for many years. However, it remains a serious pathology in other countries of the world, where basic rules of hygiene are not always observed, drinkable water is not always available and water purification proves inadequate.
Cholera is a very rare disease in Belgium that is contracted mainly during travel to endemic countries.
