For the surveillance of pneumococcal infections in Belgium Sciensano coordinates and organises the various surveillance networks:
- National Reference Centre (NRC) for invasive Streptococcus pneumoniae (UZ Leuven)
- Network of laboratories for microbiology (Sentinel Laboratories, Sciensano)
- Network for the surveillance of specific infectious diseases in children ‘Pedisurv‘ (Sciensano).
