Dr. Wiebke Jansen PhD
Wiebke Jansen received her veterinary degree from the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (Germany) in 2010, including an internship at the World Health Organization, where she was placed in the Regional Office for Europe in the Food Safety Programme . In 2012, she completed her doctoral thesis on the in vivo effect of organic acids in poultry on thermophilic Campylobacter. From 2012 on, she entered the residency programm of the European College of Veterinary Public Health, became an ECVPH Diplomat in 2017 and joined the exam board of the college afterwards. She finished her PhD at the Integrated Veterinary Research Unit of the University of Namur (Belgium) in 2019. Her PhD focused on the detection and characterisation of zoonotic pathogens in non-EU food imports and she remains lecturer at the Veterinary Department of the University of Namur. She is author and co-author of several publications, with active participation in international conferences and workshops. Her main research interests include the improvement of detection methods of neglected zoonoses, the interaction of milk-borne pathogens with the host and in dairy products. She currently works as scientist in the service Veterinary Bacteriology at Sciensano.
