Transmissions from latent Ebola virus infections are rare. However, new findings highlight the importance of close surveillance once countries are declared Ebola-free.

Says a new study published in The Lancet Infectious Diseases [2]. In a comment on this study [3], published in the same journal, Dr Lorenzo Subissi (Sciensano) discusses the challenges for survivors and survivor follow-up programmes.
