Dr. Anne Van Nerom PhD
Anne Van Nerom has a PhD in veterinary science from the Ghent University, Belgium.
Anne built up the former Belgian Competent Authority for in vitro diagnostic medical devices, when she started working at the Institute, back in 2001.
She was a member of several expert and working groups of the European Commission and of the Member States, and was a Board-member of the Central Management Committee. She has been actively involved in the revision and redaction of legal documents and guidelines.
Anne participated as expert in the Council Working Parties on the proposed Regulation on IVD Medical Devices. She had the opportunity to participate in Technical Meetings of the Council, the European Commission and the European Parliament.
Following the regrouping of competences on medical devices at the Health Products Division of the Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (FAMHP), she provided scientific expertise in the field of IVD to the FAMHP.
She led an internal project towards the candidature of Sciensano as European Union reference laboratory within the remit of Regulation (EU) 2017/746 on in vitro diagnostic medical devices, and its feasibility.
