Launch of the Belgian Cancer Research Alliance (BeCRA) [1]
On 7 October 2025, Sciensano and the Belgian Foundation against Cancer (Fondation contre le Cancer/Stichting tegen Kanker) jointly hosted the official launch of the Belgian Cancer Research Alliance (BeCRA) [2], bringing together leading experts from Belgium’s comprehensive cancer centres, public authorities and research institutes.
The event marked a major step towards strengthening national collaboration in cancer research and aligning Belgian efforts with Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.
Discussions highlighted BeCRA’s role as a unifying platform to coordinate national research priorities, facilitate access to European funding, and support data-driven innovation through initiatives such as the Belgian Cancer Data Hub.
