Dr. Pierre Smith PhD
Senior scientist
Dr Pierre Smith is a senior scientist at Sciensano and a scientific collaborator at the Université catholique de Louvain. With initial training in mental health and public health, he started working in 2016 as a researcher at the Institute of Health and Society (IRSS) of the Université catholique de Louvain. He completed a PhD in public health in 2021 on the economic and social inclusion of people living with mental illness in different European countries. His research and teaching themes focus on mental health and psychiatric epidemiology, the social determinants of health and mental health, health and social policies as well as the organisation of health care and services.
