All of Sciensano’s actions are guided by the health of humans and animals. In particular, we strive to create a safe working environment that promotes the development of each person as well as the development of science. Inclusion, diversity and the fight against discrimination are at the heart of our concerns.

In this regard, Sciensano has set itself the goal of achieving gender equality, removing gender-based structural barriers and preventing potential future disadvantages. For us, the pursuit of equal opportunities also includes promoting a pleasant workplace and improving the compatibility of work and family life for all our employees.

In 2021, we strengthened our involvement in this domain with the preparation of an ambitious but realistic Gender Equality Plan (GEP). By involving all actors within our organization in the process, we also strive for a culture of equal opportunities and contribute to a better quality of research.

In addition to rigour, objectivity and ethics inherent to our scientific approach, the results and opinions that we communicate cannot be influenced by external pressures. Our independence is the guarantee of our positive contribution to public health and of course also of the trust placed in us.
