Test description
Description:
- Confirmation of identification by biochemical determination.
- Serotyping is performed by the carrier agglutination method.
- Re-isolation of the strain on selective medium in case the culture obtained is not pure.
- In case of doubt, a specific in-house developed PCR is performed to identify and determine the serogroup.
Results:
Species name of the Listeria strain and serovar.
Purpose of the test
Confirmation of the identification and serotyping of isolated Listeria monocytogenes strains.
Criteria for performing this test in the context of reference activities
Confirmation of Listeria identification and serotyping of all samples isolated from patients showing symptoms of listeriosis (analysis performed in the framework of NRC Listeria surveillance)
