This patient involvement toolkit was developed within a transversal taskforce of the Joint Action on Networks of expertise in cancer (JANE).
This Joint Action shaped seven new Networks of Expertise in the following domains:
- personalized primary prevention;
- survivorship;
- palliative care;
- omic technologies;
- hi-tech medical resources;
- one or more complex & poor-prognosis cancer(s);
- young adults with cancer.
Each of these networks struggle with the same question: how do we effectively involve patients and engage their expertise? This toolkit offers a layered approach to answering this question that respects the complexity and need for adaptation in every specific context. It starts from general principles and allows the user to explore the application of these principles in different steps until they end up with a practical example or a specific publication to guide them further.
The toolkit offers a starting point, but can become even better with your help if you share your own experiences with patient involvement so others can learn.
