Annabelle Calomme MSc

Annabelle Calomme holds a master’s degree in biological sciences, specializing in molecular biology, obtained in 2003 from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). She worked as a scientist in various research centers and pharmaceutical companies between 2003 and 2010, specializing in the fields of biotechnology and human immunology. From 2010 to 2014, she held the position of clinical and translational research coordinator in the gastroenterology and digestive oncology department at Erasme Hospital (University Hospital of Brussels). In 2015, she obtained her teaching certificate for upper secondary education (AESS) in biological sciences, then worked as a science and mathematics teacher for several years. Since November 2017, she has been working at Sciensano as a scientific collaborator in Epidemiology — Healthcare Research (main research area: rare diseases). She is the national coordinator of Orphanet, an international reference platform that centralizes and enriches knowledge on rare diseases in order to facilitate their diagnosis and improve their management.
