Annabelle Calomme MSc
Scientist
Annabelle Calomme graduated with a Master’s degree in biological sciences (molecular biology option) in 2003 from University of Brussels (ULB). She worked as a scientist for research centres and pharmaceutical companies from 2003 to 2010, mainly in the fields of biotechnology and human immunology. From 2010 to 2014, she was a clinical and translational research coordinator in the gastroenterology and digestive oncology department at Erasme Hospital (Hôpital Universitaire de Bruxelles). In 2015, she obtained an upper secondary education teacher training degree (AESS) in biological sciences and then worked for a few years as a science and mathematics teacher. She started end of 2017 at Sciensano as a scientific collaborator in Epidemiology - Health services research (main field of research: rare diseases). She is the national coordinator of Orphanet, a unique resource gathering and improving knowledge on rare diseases so as to optimize the diagnosis and care of people living with a rare disease.
