Celia Burgaz PhD

Scientist

Celia Burgaz is a public health nutritionist with a PhD in environmental sciences. Her PhD thesis focussed on government policies towards healthy and sustainable food systems. During her doctoral research, Celia did two research stays at the African Population and Health Research Centre in Nairobi and at the Centre for Food Policy at City, University of London.

As a scientist, Celia has participated in different extracurricular activities related to food systems. She was selected for the 7th edition of the European Health Parliament as part of the Sustainable Health Systems Committee. She was also appointed as one of the 14 Young Scientists for the 2023-2025 cohort of the World Food Forum (WFF), in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO).

Currently, she is working on different international projects related to food policy and public health nutrition, such as the International Food Policy Study (IFPS) and other Horizon Europe projects (FEAST, Care4Diabetes, JA PreventNCDs).
