Dr. Katrien Latour PhD

Katrien Latour graduated in 2009 as Master in Nursing and Midwifery at KU Leuven. In 2023, she obtained her PhD degree in biomedical science at the same university.
Since 2009, Katrien works within the service “Healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial resistance” of Sciensano (previously known as the Scientific Institute of Public Health). She has been involved and coordinates different studies in long-term care facilities, including the European HALT project (point prevalence surveys of Healthcare-associated infections and Antimicrobial use in Long-Term care facilities). In 2017 and 2022, she was also involved in the Belgian point prevalence surveys in acute care hospitals. Katrien is currently responsible for the antimicrobial resistance surveillances and activities within the unit.
