Dr. Pharm. Lucy Catteau MSc
Expert Scientifique
Lucy graduated with honours from the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) with a master’s degree in Pharmacy in 2012. She subsequently completed a PhD thesis at UCL, in the Louvain Drug Research Institute (LDRI) combining teaching and research activities. During her research years, she developed an interest on natural molecules and their potential as resistance modifying agents active against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Thanks to a Fulbright grant, she got the opportunity to work as a visiting graduate student in the Nizet Lab, at University of California San Diego (UCSD), where her collaboration with active infectious diseases clinicians, gave her the taste to work in applied Health Sciences.
In 2019, Lucy joined Sciensano, in the Healthcare Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance department, where she coordinated the European Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance Network as the focal point for Belgium (EARS-Net BE). Since 2022, she is responsible for the surveillance of antimicrobial consumption in Belgium (BeH-SAC, ESAC-Net) and is actively involved in different projects combining these two domains (consumption and antimicrobial resistance).
