I am Dr. in the Medical Sciences and since 2002 at work at Sciensano. I started at the service of Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases and in 2004 I transferred to the service of Viral Diseases. I set up the National Reference Center for Measles, Mumps and Rubella. During all these years as a scienstist I did not only work on measles and rubella, but viral hepatitis belongs definitely to my expertise. During my carreer I developed oral fluid assays for measles, mumps, HAV, HBV and HCV. I set up and participated to some prevalencestudies. During a few years I was also the coordinator for the National Reference Center for Human Papillomavirus.
Since March 2023 I work again at the service of Epidemiolgy of Infectious Diseases as a senior scientist. I am part of the team that is responsible for the wastewater surveillance.
