Detection of H. pylori specific antigens in feces

Description of the test  

  • Inoculation of strains on selective medium
  • Determination of antibiotic resistance profile for positive cultures by the Etest method according to EUCAST recommendations.

Purpose of the test

  • Determination of the presence of H. pylori and its susceptibility to antibiotics.
  • Criteria for performing this test in the context of reference activities
  • Confirmation of identification and/or antibiotic resistance.

Instructions for samples

  • Strain of H. pylori isolated from clinical specimen by microbiological analysis.
  • Strain: fresh pure culture.

Instructions for transport

Transport condition: sterile tube containing horse blood or petri plate with agar packed in a bag under microaerophilic conditions (6% O2) and to be transported at ambient temperature within 24 hours.

Unacceptable requests

  • Sample unidentified
  • Mandatory fields on the request form incomplete,
  • Obvious storage or transport conditions not applied.

Turn around time (and frequency of analysis)

  • Cultures of H. pylori are performed every day from Monday to Friday
  • Interpretation culture and susceptibility tests are performed 3 times a week (Monday-Wednesday-Friday)
  • Results are sent within 10 working days

Reporting of test results

A protocol is sent to the requesting laboratory by post.
