Pathogen
Hepatitis D Virus (HDV)
Assay description
LOINC Codes :
- 7906-1
- 85512-2
- 85513-0
Details :
Assay perfomed with a commercial PCR kit : RealStar HDV RT-PCR 1.0 (Altona Diagnostics).
Results :
Quantitative (IU/mL and log IU/mL).
The result of the quantification is only reported if the viral load is comprised between the limits of quantification defined by the standard curve (429 IU/mL – 429 000 IU/mL).
If the viral load is lower than the lower limit of quantification or above the upper limit of quantification that are defined by the standard curve, the result of the quantification will be given for information purpose only.
The limit of detection of our assay is of 13.4 IU/mL.
Accreditation :
Accredited assay.
ISO 15189 | Quality and competence in medical laboratories
Aim of the assay
HDV RNA detection by real time quantitative PCR.
Diagnosis of a HDV infection.
Criteria
The patient must be positive for HDV serology and/or Hepatitis B Virus surface antigen (HBs Ag) and/or Hepatitis B Virus DNA (HBV PCR). The requesting lab must mention the clinical details suggestive of an infectious hepatitis on the request form.
HDV PCR is automatically performed in case of positive/undetermined HDV-IgTot performed in our laboratory. Reporting is done once the analysis is finished.
