Description of test
Sequencing: typing of RSV in case of positive PCR.
Purpose of the test
Characterisation of RSV — detection of mutations across the genome
Criteria for performing this test in the context of reference activities
- Outbreak
- Epidemiological follow-up (we ask each laboratory to send a minimum of 10 samples per RSV season)
Instructions for samples
Respiratory samples (upper respiratory tract, BAL and aspirates) — minimum volume of 700 µl — Ct value <20
Transport instructions
Refrigerated (2-8°C) with a maximum transport time of 48h. If transport possible longer than 48h, or if samples were stored frozen, please ship frozen on dry ice. RNA extracts should always be shipped on dry ice.

- Sample not suitable for analysis

Epidemiological surveillance: no TAT defined; batch analysis
Reporting of test results
