Ringworm is not a disease that needs to be notified. However, during a ringworm outbreak in a group of children or adolescents, our expertise may be called upon to detect the source of the infection, and thus stop the epidemic as quickly as possible.
The Mycology and Aerobiology division has developed expertise in the identification of dermatophytes over the years. Using conventional (microscopy) or molecular identification methods (MALDI-TOF MS and DNA sequencing), the source of the infection can be detected and appropriate treatment started as soon as possible.
