Surveillance | Monitor the epidemiological situation

Sciensano’s Epidemiology of infectious diseases service:

  • describes the epidemiology of leishmaniasis in Belgium (in terms of age, sex, geographical location, country of infection and severity)
  • tracks trends over time
  • identifies possible risk factors. 

Data are collected by the National Reference Laboratory for leishmaniasis at the Institute of Tropical Medicine. 

The results are presented in an annual report, see below under ‘Other publications’.
