  • meningococcal group C vaccine
  • meningococcal groups A, C, W135 and Y vaccine
  • meningococcal group B vaccine

In Belgium, infants have been systematically vaccinated against meningococcal serogroup C since 2002.

Quadrivalent vaccines (against serogroups A, C, W and Y meningococci) and meningococcal serogroup B vaccine are also available in Belgium. They are not currently included in the Belgian vaccination calendar nor reimbursed (January 2018).

Sciensano hosts the National Reference Centre (NRC) which provides epidemiological monitoring for the bacteria Neisseria meningitidis (meningococcus) and Listeria monocytogenes (listeria). The Belgian Official Medicines Control Laboratory (OMCL) of Sciensano, together with the European OMCL network, is responsible for the quality control of the meningitis vaccine prior to marketing.
