Sciensano & Yeast

Last updated on 4-2-2019 by Aurélie Felice

Sciensano hosts a collection of fungal strains (including yeasts) of interest for human or animal health. Sciensano studies infectious yeasts and their mechanisms of resistance to antifungals.

The Mycology and Aerobiology division is a centre of excellence for the identification of yeasts of biomedical interest. Bio-molecular techniques (MALDI-TOF MS, DNA sequencing) are used to identify them precisely and quickly.
