I am a physician with a background in general internal medicine and infectious diseases (MD, PhD). At the start of the COVID-19 crisis I transitioned from clinical work into public health and have been managing the Infectious Diseases Epidemiology Service of the Belgian National Public Health Institute (Sciensano) since 2021. We coordinate and ensure epidemiological surveillance of human infectious diseases in Belgium, pandemic preparedness, epidemic intelligence, risk assessments and operational research to steer public health policy.
