Dr. Laura Cornelissen DTM&H

Scientific Expert

Laura is a Medical Doctor (KULeuven 2013, summa cum laude) who specialised in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. She worked in different hospitals, amongst which a year in a government hospital in South Africa where she also coördinated a WHO-trial on maternal sepsis. She did more research on maternal sepsis at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (MSc in Tropical Medicine & International Health 2017, Prize for Best Student). She has a passion for (global) maternal health and public health in general.

Since June 2019 she works for Sciensano in the Department of Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases, where she is mainly responsable for the surveillance of measles and rubella and tracking progress for the WHO elimination goals.
