Philippe Herman obtained his Ph.D. in Biomedical sciences in 1998 (Université Catholique de Louvain — UCL), specialised in Haematology and Molecular Biology. He is working at the institute as a researcher since 2002. Previously Head of the Biosafety and Biotechnology service (2010 to July 2016). Responsible of a team of scientists performing risk assessment of GMOs and/or pathogens in the context of contained use and deliberate release.
