Details : ELISA performed with a commercial kit : Kit HAV Ab (Dia.Pro Diagnostic Bioprobes – AVAB.CE).
Results :
Qualitative (positive/negative/undetermined).
In case of an undetermined result, the collection and the shipment of a second sample is recommended.

Aim of the assay
Detection of anti-HAV total antibodies by ELISA.
Anti-HAV total Ig comprise IgM (detectable as soon as 5-10 days before the onset of symptoms and during at least six months according to CDC) and IgG (detectable during the convalescence and lasting for several years, even for life according to CDC).
Evaluation of HAV immunity in a patient with symptoms or after vaccination.
Criteria
Patient with symptoms of hepatitis and/or abnormal lab values.
- Either : screening (invoice according to INAMI/RIZIV nomenclature).
- Or : confirmatory (costs taken in charge by the NRC). In this case, the requesting lab must mention their results on the request form.

Conservatory and shipment conditions :
Conservation at 4°C before shipment.
Shipment at ambient temperature as soon as possible in a hermetic three layer package.
Requested quantities :
Preferred : 1 ml.
Minimal requirements : 0,5 ml.

Sample with insufficient volume.

TAT : 7 opening days
