National Reference Center (NRC) for Yersinia enterocolitica and Yersinia pseudotuberculosis
The main missions of the National Reference Centre (NRC) for Yersinia enterocolitica and Y. pseudotuberculosis are (i) to distinguish pathogenic from non-pathogenic carrier herds of Y. enterocolitica, and (ii) to ensure epidemiological surveillance of human infections of Yersinia spp. This surveillance aims to detect epidemics as soon as possible, as well as their origin and to evaluate long-term spatial and temporal trends in the evolution of these two germs. Specific cases such as multidrug-resistant or invasive strains are investigated by Whole-Genome Sequencing (WGS). The NRC also monitors the antibiotic sensitivity of the isolated germs.
