Chlamydia infection
The use of a condom is essential to protect yourself and your partners against STDs. If you have any concerns, you should have an STD screening test. In the event of an infection, make sure you follow the correct treatment and inform your sexual partners.
What is Chlamydia?
Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by the bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis.
It particularly affects young women aged between 15 and 34.
Chlamydia is the most frequently diagnosed STI in Belgium and Europe.
Chlamydia does not generate immunity. An infected person who has been cured can become reinfected afterwards.
The symptoms may never appear when a person is infected.
