Dr. ir. An Van den Bossche MSc

Scientist

In 2010, An Van den Bossche graduated summa cum laude at the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering (KULeuven) as MSc. in Cell/Gene Biotechnology, and received the VBI Award for best master thesis. She was granted a FWO doctoral scholarship to identify and characterize molecular interactions between bacteriophages and the pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa  (for the discovery of novel bacteriophage-based antibacterials) at the lab of Prof. Lavigne (KULeuven). She graduated in 2015, parts of her research performed at Rutgers (USA, Prof. K. Severinov) and Cambridge (UK, Prof. B. Luisi) Universities.

In 2015, she joined the unit ‘Antibiotics and Resistance’ (unit Bacterial Diseases) as a researcher. She leads a research project that is developing a new diagnostic tool for the identification and drug-susceptibility testing in Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Her work as a scientist led to several peer-reviewed publications and presentations on international conferences.
